Anthony Hamilton Russell is the owner of the wine estate, Hamilton Russell Vineyards, in the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, just behind the seaside resort town of Hermanus, 120 km Southeast of Cape Town. Hamilton Russell Vineyards specializes in the production of small quantities of highly sought after, terroir driven, Pinot noir and Chardonnay which are widely regarded as the best in their category in South Africa and among the very best in the New World. He is also the founder/owner of the wine estate Ashbourne on the Eastern border of Hamilton Russell Vineyards and founder co-owner of the wine producer Southern Right on the western border of the estate.

Before getting involved in the wine business in 1991, Anthony was a consultant for Bain and Company in their London Office. Prior to this he worked in Corporate Finance as an analyst for Morgan Stanley International, also in London.

After being schooled in South Africa, Anthony received a Batchelor of Science degree at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) in Johannesburg, majoring in Genetics and Zoology. He then went on to complete an MA in Geography at Oxford University prior to his two years of investment banking in London. Following investment banking he received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Anthony is married to Olive and has four daughters from a previous marriage. He has lived on his wine estate Hamilton Russell Vineyards for the last 16 years and his passion remains the development and beautification of his properties. His other interests include architecture, collecting stone-age artifacts and South African art.
