Welcome from the Dean
I am pleased to invite you to join me for the Wharton Global Alumni Forum that will take place in Cape Town, South Africa on June 26-27, 2008. This is the 11th Global Alumni Forum we have held in the region we define as “Europe, Africa and the Middle East” and the first on the continent of Africa. I am looking forward to meeting many of you for the first time.
The theme for the 2008 forum in Cape Town is “AFRICA EMERGENT: TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP" and we are going to learn from many of the great African leaders who are changing both businesses and governments for the better.
Under the leadership of Anthony Hamilton Russell, WG’90, the organizing committee has put together an excellent program. I am sure that you will find the program both professionally stimulating and personally entertaining. For those of you who have attended forums in the past, you know that one of the most important benefits of participation is the personal and professional networking that takes place between sessions and at the meals. For those of you who have not yet attended a Global Alumni Forum, I urge you to consider joining your classmates, professors, and thought leaders from government and industry for a unique experience.
Globalization will be a critical success factor in Wharton’s future. In order to continue our roles as the leading source for business thought and as the leading location for the training of future business leaders, we must all learn and work together. I believe that the Forum in Cape Town will provide much food for thought and many opportunities for joint learning. I look forward to participating.
